I have been wanting to do a session like this for a long time! When one of my favorite clients contacted me with this idea, I was over the moon!

Deep Ellum is such a perfect location. There is so much color, just the right amount of "grunge" and plenty of variety for many different looks. I really could spend the entire day there just exploring and photographing it all. Add in a beautiful ballerina and color me uber happy!

I have photographed this beauty before and the camera absolutely loves her! We had a great time together and I can't wait to plan her next session! She is a natural.

When she pulled out the cowboy boots, I swear my heart skipped a beat! PERFECT!

Here are a few of my favorites. I really could not narrow it down. Oh, and please excuse the web quality. My gallery program is resizing these and reducing the viewing quality. I am trying to find a work-around for this. In the mean time, my apologies!

PS. I know I have been WAY behind in blogging. What can I say? The craziness of the season got to me. I will be updating much more regularly and have so many amazing sessions to show off, so keep checking back!!!

Dallas Senior Photographer- Deep Ellum Senior session

I photographed this handsome guy when he was 14 years old and now he is a High School Senior! Craziness!!! Strange how my clients keep growing up and getting older, but I am staying the same age. Haaa!

We decided on Deep Ellum for a more Urban/City look. The colors there are just too much fun! We didn't have to go far to get several different "looks." I think Deep Ellum might just be my new favorite place for photos. It is definitely my new favorite spot for seniors. I could even see some fantastic family portraits in this area. I loved the lighting and the color! Oh, the gorgeous color! Mom really liked this burnt orange wall, so we did quite a few there to compliment the colors in her home.

"A" plays the guitar so we incorporated it into a few shots. I only wish I could have heard him play. Note to self: Bring Amp to next session.

Okay, Mr. High School Senior, when you play your first gig, I get front row seats so I can hear you play! And best of luck to you with those music theory classes. Your talent will take you far!

And, seriously... look at those eyes. Wowza!

Plano Family Photographer- Sneak Peek- Beautiful family!

This is a very dear friend of mine and her beautiful family. We had a great time. Even in the Texas heat! It's hard to dress for fall when it still feels like summer, but they did it!

We decided on downtown Plano for our session. So many different looks in a relatively small area. We loved it!

I truly enjoyed spending time with all of them together! We all know how difficult it can be to coordinate schedules with teenagers and little ones, and I am so glad they were able to make it happen. Family portraits are so important. Sure to be treasured for many years

I have had several inquiries from families regarding Christmas card photos, so I have decided to dedicate a full weekend to families and offer mini-sessions in the Park or the City!

This is a great way to get your Christmas portraits and custom made cards in one short, easy, family-friendly session!

The dates I have set aside are October 15th and 16th.
I will do one day in Highland Park with a more traditional greenery/park setting and one day in downtown McKinney for a more urban setting. You decide which setting best suits your family! Space is very limited, so choose your location and time slot as soon as possible to insure availability.
The cost is $75 per family, which includes a 15 minute mini-session and an online gallery of 10-15 fully perfected images. All mini-session guests will also receive a *free* custom 8x10 portrait, packaged and ready for gift giving!
My 2011 Christmas Card Catalog can be found here. Card prices start at just $45 per set of 25 cards. Additional discounts available for the purchase of 50 or more cards. Your cards will be completely customized to your liking. You can see the many options available in the catalog.
Print prices will be discounted by 20% for all mini-session guests. This is a great opportunity to give the gift of portrait memories to the special people in your life this Holiday Season! The new jewelry and albums I have introduced into my product line make fantastic gifts as well!

September 11th. 10 Years Later. I remember.

I have seen so much coverage today remembering the events and lives lost on 9/11/01. I think we all remember where we were when the towers fell. It was such a devastating event. One that changed the way we lived our lives. It took so much from us as a country, as Americans. It changed so many things about the way we function. For months we were afraid to fly, afraid to go to public places where many people would be gathered, even afraid to send our children to school in some areas. We were changed.

But I remember something else. I remember the unity. I remember how it did not matter if you were a Republican or Democrat. Black or white. Rich or Poor. It. Didn't. Matter. For a while we were all just Americans. We all felt the loss. We all suffered. And we all came together when we needed it most.

I remember streets lined with American Flags. I remember people were a little bit quicker with a smile. Quicker to hold open a door, offer a helping hand, ask "how are you doing?" and really listen to the answer. I am not even speaking about the heroes that risked their lives for complete strangers on that day. I am talking about each and every one of us. All over the country. We were United.

As I reflect on that time, 10 years later, it saddens me to see the state of things now. I am not talking about the economy or the war(s), the unemployment rate or the price of gasoline. There are plenty of blogs, newspapers and websites to address those things. I am talking about the division that is once again rearing it's ugly head. The division that separates us all, labels us, makes us "different than" our fellow Americans. Whether that division be based on politics, race, gender or social class, it makes me sad. Because, like all of you, I remember. I know what it can be like here, and while I do not wish that pain or devastating loss on any country, city, or family, or person, I do miss the Unity. I am going to do my part to keep that spirit of Unity alive every day. I hope you will too.

Oh my goodness! This little angel was absolutely gorgeous! So tiny and sweet. She had us worried that she was not going to sleep! She did make us work for it, but finally she drifted off and let us move her around a little. She did not want to fold her little legs up for anything. But being I am older and stronger, she finally cooperated. Meet sweet, beautiful, baby B!

Expectant parents, it's a good time to set a tentative date for your newborn session. The best time to photograph a newborn is between 4-10 days. I know that seems really early, but that is when they are sleepiest and easiest to position. I promise you, a few years, even months down the road, you will be SO glad you did it. They change so quickly! Even at 2 weeks old they can look completely different!

What if your baby is older than 10 days? No problem! We can do a newborn session up to 6 weeks. It just gets a little trickier the older they get, but it can be done! It takes a lot of patience, and believe me, I have plenty.

Tuesday Favorites- Makeup and skincare for mommies!

Ok, so one of my all-time favorite stores is Sephora. That is really the only place I can "shop" regularly with a 1 year old. Ever tried to try on clothes in a store with a wiggly toddler (I cannot believe I called her a toddler! Seems like she was just born!)? It is no easy task! I have tried more than once. I really need a nanny to go to the mall with me and that is just not in the cards for me.... so I stick to shopping online at Sephora. I still feel like I am pampering myself, but do not have to drag said wiggly toddler to a mall.

Some of my favorites...

Dior Extase Mascara- This stuff is FABULOUS! One coat gives you a nice, true black, full lash with NO clumps. I have tried soooo many mascara's over the years. This one is my new favorite. I do not have time to sit and curl my lashes and apply several coats. This is really all I need! LOVE. IT.

Philosophy Hope in a Jar - GREAT moisturizer and all around face product. If I could only splurge on one skincare item for my face, this would be it. Goes on easy, non-greasy and really makes skin glow.

Narciso Rodriguez Perfume- Okay, so I realize perfume is something very personal, but I personally (haha!) LOVE this stuff. I am not a fan of heavy, floral scents. This is a fresh, very unique scent that does not wear very heavy. Perfect for me because I do not like to walk in a room and be preceded by my fragrance! I like a light scent that wears long, but NOT strong. This is my go-to daily perfume. Be sure to get (or try a sample) of the Eau De Parfum, not the Eau De Toilette. There is a difference!

Nars blush in Orgasm/Laguna- Seriously. BEST. BLUSH. EVER. I searched for YEARS for the perfect shade of peachy-pink blush that was not *too* orange and not *too* pink and not *too* "blushy"..... I heard about NARS Orgasm blush forever, but was not in a rush to try it due to the price; however, when they put out this blush/bronzer combo, I took the plunge. OH MY GOSH. It really is as good all the rave reviews say it is. The bronzer is PERFECT for my skin tone too. I adore this combo and will be very sad if it is ever discontinued! It's beautiful! You must try it!!!

Family/Kids 40 Ways to Show your Child Love- Love love love this list. Making it a point to cover them all. I think we all get some wrapped up in the daily hustle and bustle that we often forget how important the little things really are to our children. Have a look at this list. You won't regret it! Crazy Critters- Make an animal sandwich in 5 minutes flat! What kid wouldn't love these? Shoot, I would even love to have one of these! Will definitely be making a couple of these for Miss Trinity. And last but not least, for all the back to school kiddos! How to make school better for your kids- My kids went back to school yesterday as well as many other school districts in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This is a great article with a lot of common- sense info that I am sure you know, but a couple of reminders never hurt. I know it is hard for me to get out of "summer fun" mode and back into "daily homework" mode, especially that first week! Mom & Dad Thought Questions... We are all thinkers. I love to have new things to ponder, reflect on, grow and learn from, etc. I stumbled upon this blog post last week and found these questions to be very thought-provoking, but not so deep that you read them, give up, and move on! Have a look! Beautiful pictures to boot! 50 life secrets and tips- Higher existence... A little more work involved here, but well worth a read through. I firmly believe if you are not learning and growing then you stagnate and NO ONE wants that! Who couldn't do with a little self-improvement? I know I could! Polyvore:Hair- For fun! LOTS of cool hair cuts, styles, colors, etc. Polyvore is a GREAT website to have bookmarked for pretty much anything you can think of.

Dallas Child Photography- Happy First Birthday, Ava!

It is so hard to believe that she is already ONE!! Time flies when your having fun, I guess. Ava turned 1 on Friday, so I got her ready today and ventured out in the 100+ degree heat for her 1 year mini-session. It went pretty well. As long as she didn't realize she had a hat on, she was fine. Luckily, she was in the shade so the heat really didn't seem to phase her. The photographer gets to stand in the sun though and shoot into the shade, so I was DRENCHED. Ha! Anyway, here are a few of my favorites. I made her dress and the hat was made by the amazing TheChicaBoutique on Etsy.
